Yup, we're having a baby girl! No way around it, I'm so screwed! lol I just have this bad feeling that I already know that I'm going to be totally wrapped around those little fingers the minute she's born. Oh well, what's a fella to do I guess. Haha. We finally bit the bullet this weekend and got a camcorder. Picked up this one from Best Buy over the weekend. I've been reading reviews and studding on them for sometime now and decided to stay away from HD for the time being for several reasons. One being I could get a decent quality Standard Def. Camera cheaper, and another being that nearly everywhere I read people say that you need nearly a super computer to deal with the HD format once you get it off of the camera. Also that not all the HD formats are the same, and it can be troublesome finding software to edit the video without giving up picture quality. I've only messed around with ours a little bit but so far I really like it. We've pretty much got the nursery done. Just need a nice comfy place for me to sit in and we'll be set. As for my fish, we'll they've taken the brunt of our buissiness over the past few months. The tanks look like crap, filters need cleaned and no doubt they are over due for a water change. Hopefully this week I can get caught up with them. I dread it, but I need to grab some help and move the 75 gallon from the dinning area to my office area. I've also been pondering pretty hard about setting up a tank for some peacock cichlids. This isn't anything that's likley to materialize soon though, as it's going to take some up front dough to get the fish I want and we just don't have it to spare for fish right now. |

I know it's been more than a while since I've updated anything here and I do apologize for that. No posts, no photo's no nuthin'. But in my defense, things have been a bit, different, around the house. We found out just a few weeks before Christmas that we were going to have a baby!!! Such great news at a wonderful time of year! That was just the coolest thing. The wife and I had been trying for a little while, but neither one of us expected anything to happen so quick. But so far everything is looking great. She is 11 weeks along right now, and the due date is Aug, 11 2009. So now that the initial excitment is over, things are starting to settle back down to 'normal' life, as if we ever had anything close to normal to start with. Baby names, what to do with all the 'junk' we have in the soon to be baby's room, Dr's appointments and a ton of other stuff are going on. We both sort of agree that raising a small version of me would be interesting at the least.... but really we don't care what sex it is. We are supposed to be able to find out the sex in March, and I'll just be glad because I can finally stop refering to the baby as 'it' or 'the baby'. lol |

Just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We all should take a moment to reflect on what we have to be thankful for. I know that's an over used expression this time of year, but I think we should take more time though out the year to remember what we have to be thankful for rather than one day alone. I'm thankful for a wonderful wife who for some reason continues to put up with me. I'm thankful for the health that I do still have and that this is another year I've been able to get by fairly normal. I'm thankful that my Mother is as healthy as she is despite the cancer and illness that she's fought this year and beaten. I'm thankful for my family who is always there. I'm thankful for those friends who are like family, sometimes closer. I'm thankful for coffee. I'm thankful I have a job that I don't hate all the time. I'm thankfull that I have a roof over our head, food on the table and even a little spare change left over every now and again. When life seems to take a downward spin and we loose track of what we have to be thankful for, it's good to step back, and look and just see what we do have to be thankful for. Now, I'm ready to stuff myself on the meat of a dead bird and groan around watching football the rest of the day. |

I've had two problems in two of my tanks for a while now. One, in my 75 gallon, the festivums have turned a once strong school of Columbian Tetra's into a shadow of it's former self. For some reason the festivums have continued to attack the tetra's over the past month's and I have went from a school of 10, to a school of 3. Not very cool. Problem 2, the 12 Rainbow fish in my 65 gallon tank are doing just fine. So fine infact that when it's feeding time, due to the strength in numbers and speed of the Rainbows, they get the majority of the food leaving not much for the Acara's, Gold Saum, or other tetra's. The origional purpose of the Rainbows in the first place was to be dither fish for the Gold Saum and Acara's. And this worked for a few weeks, untill the other fish got used to the Rainbows and then they just started back like the Rainbows wern't even there. So really there wasn't much point in keeping them in this tank anymore. So I finally got around to moving the rainbows to the 75 gallon where I had hoped that they might have a bit of a nicer home since the tank was longer, they would have more cover, and as a bounus, they might once again act as dither fish but for this time for the festivums. It's been about 5 days now since the move and they all are still alive, despite the best efforts of the festivums and Heros. The festivums and Heros are some smart fish I can say. They quickly figured out that they couldn't keep up with the Rainbows during the day, so they waited until night when the lights were out to start trying to atack the Rainbows. Go figure. But so far they haven't been sucessful and the Rainbows have been able to stay one step ahead of them. Time will tell if this is going to bring any peace to this tank or not. I hope it will but we will see. |

I figured I would post a few newer photo's of our Leopard Gecko as well as some more note worthy news. This fella seems to be really settling in really well. We've started feeding mealworms, and although my wife HATES the idea of beetle larvae in the house, and I'll have to admit I'm not much of a fan of this idea either, the Leo just loves them. It didn't take but just a couple of feedings and he was taking them right from the tongs without any hesitation. The Leo is also out and about during the day a heck of a lot more than he was that first week, just hanging out watching me or just exploring the tank. He's not anywhere near as skittish when we move the light or take the top of to do a little maintaince or feed. Still not really wild over the idea of being hand held, but I think he's slowly getting the idea that we don't want to eat him haha. {phocagallery view=category|categoryid=14|limitstart=0|limitcount=8|fontcolor=#006633|bgcolor=#333333|bgcolorhover=#000000|imagebgcolor=#336633|detail=0|displaydownload=0|displaybuttons=1} |

I bought my sweetie a Leopard Gecko for a surprise. We've thought about getting one for quite a long time, we just never actually ran across any that wasn't really expensive in stores, and she hates to pay shipping charges for anything. I lucked up the other day at Petsmart of all places. They had several that looked to be in very good shape health wise. $30 seems to be about the norm for just the 'normal' type, and not a super bred Leo with crazy colors and patterns. I've always enjoyed keeping herps. It's been a while since we've had any. Maybe this is a sign of things to come. lol And of course, Here are some photo's of the little fella: {phocagallery view=category|categoryid=14|limitstart=8|limitcount=10|fontcolor=#006633|bgcolor=#333333|bgcolorhover=#000000|imagebgcolor=#336633|detail=0|displaydownload=0|displaybuttons=0} |

I've updated the site this morning, really the look and not much else as of yet. Everything looks real good so far. I do have some bad news for anyone still using Internet Explorer 6.x and below, there's probably going to be some display problems for you. Earlier versions of IE don't work well with CSS files, and other browsers like Firefox, Opera and I'm pretty sure Internet Explorer 7 do however. So if your using one of these, your good to go. Other wise you might run into a few minor display issues. I've not found anything that would keep you from using the site, just that some stuff might look a bit weird |
